Zohar Spatz is Executive Director, La Boite at the Roundhouse Theatre.

How long have you been at La Boite?

I have been at the desk for about 5 months.

How big is your team and venue?

We have 28 Full Time Equivalent staff.

Why did you choose a career in the performing arts venue sector?

I love how venues can create communities by becoming a gathering place for artists and audiences, to talk, eat and drink as well as a place to experience excellent art.

What makes Queensland special?

Some of the best Australian contemporary art comes out of Queensland and the weather is pretty amazing.

What is your first performing arts memory?

Ummm how far back do you want me to go… I pretty vividly remember seeing Cats in Melbourne in around 1987?

What was the last show you saw?

Open Homes presented by La Boite and Backbone, was a series of storytelling inside the homes of people across Brisbane. It is the brainchild of Singaporean Artist Jeffrey Tan and on Sunday I attended UrbanBlaks, by Amanda and Troy Casey who unpacked their urban lifestyles whilst still maintaining their cultural identities.

What do you do when you aren’t working?

My 3 and 5 year old keep me pretty busy and I’m also partial to hanging out on my back deck with mates, a cheese platter and glass of wine.
